Known for usually being one step ahead of the game, Virgin Atlantic will soon be the first airline to offer full mobile access in the air in its Upper Class Suites on Airbus A330 planes.

Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class Suites feature Richard Branson-shaped ice cubes and an AeroMobile system that enables passengers to make and receive cell phone calls during flight. Now, fliers will also be able to access the Internet and send text messages on the A330’s London to New York route. By the end of the year, at least ten other routes will include the feature. It is reported that the cost will be the same as normal roaming charges.

Mobile devices will still not be permitted during takeoff and landing due to safety concerns and all phones will have to be switched off once the airplane approaches 250 miles from U.S. airspace.
