Nadine Kanso Launches ‘Ya Ghali’ Collection by Bil Arabi at Harvey Nichols Dubai
Locally-based designer Nadine Kanso’s creates her popular jewellery pieces through a unique fusion of her collage and photography work. To be launched next week at Harvey Nichol’s Dubai, Kanso’s ‘Ya Ghali’ Collection by Bil Arabi showcases luxury pieces made from white gold and gems, layered with yellow gold additions and semi-precious stones – elements which are hallmarks of her Bil Arabi line.
The Arabic phrase ‘Ya Ghali’ is colloquially used to reference that which is dearest to the heart and also expensive; the collection thus embodies a sense of lightheartedness that only the most discerning eye will detect. Featuring rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets which reference the themes Bil Arabi is recognised for – love, nature and butterflies – the new collection also emphasizes a strong sense of Arabic identity through the calligraphy and Arabic script imbued within the pieces. The Arabic lettering Kanso uses represents the foundation of the Bil Arabi line; she uses both individual letters and words to create designs which appear incongruous and yet meaningful.
