Haute Toys: Panasonic and NHK’s “Super Hi-Vision” 145-Inch 8K Plasma Display

Tech companies Panasonic and Japanese broadcaster NHK have teamed up to create a new “Super Hi-Vision” 145-inch plasma display. Dubbed the world’s first self-illuminating display with more than 34 million pixels able to emit 7,680 by 4,320 resolution, which will be on display during NHK’s open house in May.

Television makers are constantly trying to one-up each other, creating bigger, better and sharper products all the time. But a new collaboration between Panasonic and NHK may have just made the war to be the biggest and the best even bigger. The 145-inch prototype plasma TV does not require a backlight and will carry a 16:9 aspect ratio, a frame rate of 60fps and a pixel pitch of 0.417mm.

The TV has not yet been priced.
