Haute Event: 2012 Billboard Music Awards

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards was broadcasted live Sunday night on ABC, kicking off with an energetic performance by LMFAO and hosted by Modern Family starts Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen.

Notable award-winners included Taylor Swift who was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year, Katy Perry for her Spotlight Award and Stevie Wonder with the Icon Award. Adele was Billboard’s biggest winner this year with 12 awards.

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards paid tribute to some of music’s most important late icons: Whitney Houston, who won the Milennium Award, Donna Summer, Adam Yauch and Bees Gees member Robin Gibb.

Of course, the Billboard Music Awards never goes without outstanding performances by Hollywood’s biggest names. The stage welcomed Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson, both who debuted new singles, Natasha Bedingfield who paid tribute to Donna Summer, R&B stars Chris Brown, Usher and Justin Bieber, John Legend and Jordin Sparks who honored the late Whitney Houston with renditions of “Greatest Love Of All” and “I Will Always Love You”, Cee Lo Green and his Goodie Mob crew, Nelly Furtado and a flawless duet by Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys.
