Continuum South Beach Penthouse Sale Breaks Record
Alex Birkenstock has sold his South Beach Continuum penthouse for a record $25 million.
Alex Birkenstock has sold his South Beach Continuum penthouse for a record $25 million, breaking the previous SoBe record of $21.5 million, which was set just five months ago for a property at The Setai Hotel & Resort.
The heir to the Birkenstock shoe fortune bought the Continuum property in 2009 for $9.9 million.
Located on the 40th, 41st and 42nd floors, the penthouse features five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms and more than 6,000 square feet of outdoor terrace space. It features majestic views of the Miami skyline and the Atlantic Ocean.
It’s been in the public eye before: the penthouse has been used for music video and movie shoots. It most recently was used as the setting of a perfume commercial fronted by singer Mary J. Blige.
Birkenstock had not been shopping the property. An Italian investor looking at another unit in the same building was looking for something with higher ceilings, and the Birkenstock property fit the bill. The new owner will use the property as a second home when he’s not in Europe.
