Fashion and home furnishing company, Laura Ashely, has announced they will be opening a luxury boutique hotel. Following other designer labels like Bulgari and Armani, Laura Ashley has purchased a boutique hotel in Hertfordshire for £5.8m.

Founded in 1953, Laura Ashley was started by Laura and Bernard Ashley who began their endeavor when they were printing fabric on their kitchen table in London. Inspired by a Women’s Institute exhibition, the duo began making their own handcrafted patchwork quilts. After investing £10 on wood for a screen, dyes and linen, Laura and Bernard began printing their own fabrics.

Now decades later, Laura Ashley is opening a boutique hotel in Hertfordshire, which they just purchased for £5.8m. With plans to refurbish the hotel and turn it into a brand showcase for their products and interior design services, the hotel is expected to open sometime this year. There will be 49 rooms with beds, sofas, wallpapers and curtain’s with matching fabrics.
