Hollywood actor and activist George Clooney is doing what he can to help President Obama get reelected by hosting a fundraising gathering at his Los Angeles home with tickets costing $40,000 per person.

In addition to his high-profile status as a Hollywood actor, Clooney is often associated with political organizing and activism. The upcoming 150-person, $40,000-a-head fundraiser will take place at Clooney’s Los Angeles home and proceeds will go to the Obama Victory Fund. This committee raises money for Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic Parties. If the gathering is sold out, the proceeds could reach up to $6 million.

“I’m going to do whatever I can to support the President,” Clooney said. “As long as no one asks me to sing.”

Last month Clooney was in Washington, D.C. to speak to Obama about putting pressure on the Sudanese government to stop the widespread human rights abuses going on in the country. The next day, Clooney and several congressmen were publically arrested outside of the Sudanese Embassy in Washington where they staged a publicity stunt attempting to draw attention to the crisis.
