Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones and Judy Garland…
What do these iconic actors have in common? They have all called the 5,513-square-foot house nestled on Bel-Air’s famous Stone Canyon Road home.
The five-bedroom home earned its place in Hollywood history when Garland lived there in 1940 with her mother, grandmother and sister, two years after soaring to fame as Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz.
Since then, the residence has been remodeled and is now listed for $7.1 million by its current owner, Stephanie Booth Murray, who bought the house last year for $5.2 million. Murray is the great-great granddaughter of General Harrison Gray Otis, the original editor of the Los Angeles Times and creator of the Times Mirror Company.
Built in 1938 on a 2.5-acre lot, the home has recently gone under a major overhaul.A $2 million transformation has changed the brick structure to clean white walls on the exterior. Inside, there is a cook’s kitchen that overlooks the garden, library, an office and spacious formal dining and living areas. The home is on the market for $7.1 million.
