Haute Travel: Orpheus Island Resort Reopening March 3

The Orpheus Island Resort, situated in the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Queensland, is officially reopening on March 3. The hotel underwent renovations after Cyclone Yasi forced the resort to close down.

The “tropical sanctuary”, as it is described, is extremely luxurious and offers its 34 guests-at-a-time lots of privacy and seclusion. Attractive features include a pavilion bar and restaurant and a 26-meter infinity pool with scenic views of the Coral Sea. The resort’s rate includes all meals, house wine and beers and unlimited access to sea equipment. Additionally, for those seeking a thrill, Orpheus Island Resort provides guests with scuba diving and snorkeling expeditions.

Orpheus Island, which most of it is in fact a national park, is a three hour flight from Sydney or a three and a half hour flight from Melbourne.
