London’s Barbican Center is looking past the Olympics and planning on opening two new cinemas in September 2012.

The City of London granted planning permission for the cinemas in August and the Center has now released a statement saying the theaters should be open in September 2012. The two 156-seat cinemas will be located on the corner of Beech Street and Whitecross Street and there will also be a restaurant and café-bar located onsite.

The additions will allow the Barbican to further expand its film program, which focuses on mixing blockbuster new releases, lesser-known films and regular “retrospectives on key directors and periods.”
