New York Harbor’s Lighted Boat Parade

News | November 29, 2011

The Saturday after Thanksgiving the New York Harbor transformed into a parade of lighted tour boats, work boats, private boats and charter yachts that participate in the ever-popular holiday spirited harbor-town tradition.

Each year, vessels are decorated with twinkling lights and holiday décor as they head down to New York Harbor to officially kick off the holiday season in New York City. The harbor tours still operate and locals and visitors alike are able to see the Statute of Liberty, Ellis Island and the entire New York City skyline by getting out on the harbor.

The annual Lighted Boat Parade starts with boats gathering at Pier A. They then travel up through Brooklyn Bridge Park and move north along the Brooklyn Waterfront, passing under the Brooklyn Bridge and doing a tight pass along Manhattan’s waterfront at South Street Seaport.
