Haute 100 Update: Martin Scorsese Unveils ‘Hugo’ in 3D as NYFF’s Mystery Movie

Film fans had been eagerly waiting the evening of Monday, Oct. 10 when the New York Film Festival would screen its much buzzed about mystery movie. After much speculation, it was revealed to be film legend Martin Scorcese’s newest project, Hugo in 3D.

While the film is still “in progress”, festival-goers had a chance to preview parts of the Paramount film, which stars Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Jude Law, Emily Mortimer, Ben Kingsley, and Sacha Baron Cohen. The sneak peek certainly generated a good deal of buzz for the film, especially since the NYFF has not shown an unfinished film this way since 1991’s Beauty and the Beast.

Co-produced with Johnny Depp and Graham King, Hugo is a family film based on the book by Brian Selznick. Set in 1930s Paris, the story follows an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station and gets tangled up in a mystery with his new young friend.
