Plans for Genting Group’s Bayside Resort in Miami Released

News | September 15, 2011

Malaysian developers Genting Group have released artist drawings of their plans for the area on Biscayne Bay, which they recently purchased from The Miami Herald.

Plans to transform The Miami Herald headquarters into an enormous complex were unveiled yesterday. The proposed project will include 5,200 hotel rooms, 50 restaurants and bars, 60 luxury shops and massive convention and ballroom space.

Biomorphic shapes on the ends of the complex will house 65-story hotel towers and were designed to “resemble coral formations”.

Assuming the plan moves forward, the “Resorts Miami” project will be significantly changing Miami’s skyline. Architects from Miami-based Arquitectonica are behind the plans and are also known for the nearby American Airlines Arena.

In addition to hotels, shopping, bars and more, plans for a casino on site are also in the works, but have not yet been approved.
