Italian Shipyard Completes World’s 9th Largest Yacht

News | August 10, 2011

When life on land is becoming mundane, heading to the high seas is often a great solution. Italian shipyard, Fincantieri, has just completed the world’s 9th largest yacht, Serene, which is the perfect solution for one super rich buyer looking to take to the water.

The $300 million yacht is the only Italian-built vessel among the world’s top 25 and the buyer has maintained his (or her) anonymity. Speculators are hinting that it may have been a request by an oil sheikh since all of the yachts larger than Serene worldwide belong to sultans, kings, Emirs, Roman Abramovich, David Geffen and Paul Allen.

Being among the world’s top yachts comes with certain luxury expectations and the Serene does not disappoint. It is the most technologically advanced vessel with two helicopter landing platforms, storage for a large submarine, and a massive indoor seawater pool that is able to be used for tender docking.

Serene also features seven docks and nearly 50,000 sq. feet of interior space (including 30,000 sq. feet of living space) making it larger than most mansions. The interior scheme was conceptualized and completed by Pascale Reymond of Reymond Langton Design.

While for most people, Serene would suffice, Fincantieri is currently in the process of building an even larger Oeino-designed yacht, Victory, which will measure in at 459 ft and likely be the world’s 5th largest yacht once it is complete.
