Jean Georges Vongerichten, chef of New York’s fames Jean Georges restaurant, and his wife Marja are now hosting a food reality show called Kimchi Chronicles.  The show focuses on the food and traditions of Korea, and will air on PBS.  The show will also host celebrity guests such as Hugh Jackman and Heather Graham.  Marja Vongerichten gives her picks for five fantastic Korean restaurants in Los Angeles.

First she recommends Bibigo, which she describes as the “best place for fresh and fast Korean food in the heart of Westwood.”  Marja suggests you try: “a bibimbap in hot stone bowl with great veggies and also great crispy spicy chicken.” (1091 Broxton Ave., 310-824-0011)

The next restaurant she chose for their “amazing crab soups” is Ondal 2. (4566 W. Washington Blvd., 323-933-3228)

Marja’s third pick is Park’s BBQ, because they have, “one of the best beef BBQ; called galbi.” (955 S. Vermont Ave., 213-380-1717)

Honey Pig is a “Country-style BBQ; one of the best places to get samgeyopsal: grilled pork belly in a ssam wrap,” which is why it is number four on Marja’s list. (3400 W. 8th St., 213-380-0256)

Last but certainly not least, Marja recommends Seongbukdong’s “Korean home-style cooking. The braised short rib dish is amazing; called galbi jjim.” (3303 W. 6th St., 213-738-8977)
