Haute Event: Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Toast 200 Years of Perrier-Jouët Champagne at Mondrian SoHo

Champagne house Perrier-Jouët threw a glittery bicentenary bash at École des Beaux Arts in Paris back in March, which saw: French movie star Alain Delon, American model and actress Jerry Hall and daughter Georgia May Jagger, Catherine Deneuve, and French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac all attend in full force. The art-fueled event featured an extravagant Champagne-paired dinner orchestrated by notorious French chef Jean-Louis Nomicos. (The Champagne of choice? Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Cuvées, including the incomparable Cuvée Belle Époque 1998 in magnum.) To mark the momentous occasion, Perrier-Jouët also unveiled Bi-Centenaire—the very first “Living Legacy champagne designed to be passed on to future generations.”

Speaking at the 200th anniversary Paris fête, chairman and CEO of Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët, Lionel Breton commented, “We are very proud [to] celebrate tonight—the bicentenary of Perrier-Jouët with this unique champagne experience as a real tribute to the house’s remarkable craftsmanship and passion for passing on a sense of French art de vivre to future generations.”

Last week, the “Happy 200” festivities crossed the pond with a magical night of bubbles hosted by Susan Sarandon and daughter Eva Amurri. An exclusive guest list—counting notables such as designer Chris Benz (whose billowy creation Amurri was sporting), creative Victor Glemaud, and entrepreneur Wendy Diamond—gathered at the Mondrian Hotel SoHo to toast the maison de Champagne’s legacy.

“I love it! I am huge fan of Champagne—especially Perrier-Jouët… I intend on having it at my wedding,” explained hostess Amurri, exhibiting her glistening diamond engagement ring. “[The wedding] is this year— right after summer and I am very excited! It is all coming along,” the actress concluded before turning to chat with friends in the back area.

To commemorate the 200th anniversary, Perrier-Jouët’s Bi-Centenaire will be available in exceptionally limited quantities (100 pieces only) at the Perrier-Jouët Boutique in Epernay, France and by appointment only (including a privileged hospitality experience). It is also available through the exclusive Pernod Ricard network for an MSRP of €10,000.
