Haute Event: The Esteemed Johnnie Walker House Opens in Shanghai

The Johnnie Walker House has been a renowned mecca for discerning whisky aficionados. For the first time, the celebrated Scotch whisky brand has opened a Johnnie Walker House outside of Scotland in Shanghai’s Sinan Mansion s,marking a new chapter in China’s whisky culture by offering fans an unprecedented way to enjoy the spirit with interactive sensory journeys, inspirational forums, and decadent luxury dinners.

For the opening, celebrities and society’s elite joined in for the celebration, including Venice Film Festival Award winner Xia Yu, multiple film award winner Chen Kun, and influential film director and producer Peter Chan. The three esteemed guests of honor were all present to take part in the unveiling ceremony and, along with Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender Dr. Jim Beveridge, led the distinguished guests on a tour through the house to an interactive exploration of the centuries-old whisky’s cultural journey from the shores of Scotland to exotic and luxurious Shanghai.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests were invited to a celebratory toast, made even more special by being the first tasting ever of the Special Commemorative Edition Johnnie Walker 1910, which was specially created for the house – and will only be available in China at the Johnnie Walker House – using tasting notes and recipes discovered during that time. The special whisky is significant of one hundred years of growth and discovery since Johnnie Walker first arrived in China in 1910.
