“Polaroid Hotel” is a new exhibit on view at Lead Apron gallery on Melrose Place that has been currated by Al Moran and features the work of photographer / music video director Patrick Hoelck whose most recent music video was for a band called Cults and featured Emma Roberts and Dave Franco (brother of James Franco).
Note: Al Moran has been taking L.A. by storm since his arrival to town with OHWOW; if you haven’t heard his name yet, wait for it … you will.
The exhibit features Patrick’s photographs from his many fashion shoots and music videos of his famous friends around Los Angeles that he has been compiling since his big break at the age of 16 when he was asked to shoot his first music video. Patrick’s new book, also called “Polaroid Hotel,” is a tribtue to polaroid photography and also an archive of images Hoelck has captured over 17 years of his life and career on polaroid.
We went to the opening and book signing as did half of the people I grew up with in Los Angeles and half the people that make up the Los Angeles social spectrum. Everyone from well-known actors like Jon Hamm, John Stamos, Balthazar Getty, Samaire Armstrong, Dylan McDermott and Scott Caan who brought along his father James Caan, to other L.A. figures including film producer Lawrence Bender, filmmaker Brett Ratner, nightlife entrepreneur Brent Bolthouse, MOCA’s “Art in the Street” currator Rodger Gatsman, E!
