News | March 11, 2011

Natalie Portman donned it for Black Swan, as well as to the Oscars, where she nabbed the Best Actress award. They’re in permanent collections at the Costume Institute in the Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology. We’re referring to our favorite designers from Pasadena, California – Rodarte. Kate and Laura Mulleavy are the sister team behind Rodarte, the award winning womenswear line that launched in 2005.

From now through June 5, 20011, Rodarte will be showcased in its first solo west coast exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art located inside the Pacific Design Center. The exhibit, titled Rodarte: States of Matter will display garments as sculptural objects. The exhibition features pieces from the Spring 2010, Fall 2010, and Fall 2008 runway collections, as well as original ballet costumes designed by Kate and Laura for the feature film Black Swan.

Musuem of Contemporary Art Pacific Design Center is located at: 8687 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, CA 90069. 213.621.1741. Open Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Monday.
