Haute Event: Megan Huntz Dresses, Beneath the Surface

Next Friday and Saturday, join Atlanta-based designer Megan Huntz as she presents a collection of limited edition dresses and documentary photographs at Jennifer Schwartz Gallery. Focusing on the textural transformation that textiles undergo before ending up on a rack at your local boutique, the two day event will expose fashion as a tangible form of artistic expression that we participate in daily.

The weekend beings with a cocktail reception and presentation on Friday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. where Huntz will debut her limited collection of dresses made of silk “washed” in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and documentary photos and video detailing the washing process. This sincere expression of fashion design as an art form continues on Saturday with a pop-up shop where each of the dresses will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. only. With such a limited collection of one of a kind pieces, approximately 10 dresses as opposed to your standard trunk show offering over over 30 styles, be sure to arrive as early as possible to ensure that you walk away with the dress of your dreams.

Megan Huntz Dresses Beneath the Surface’s cocktail reception and presentation takes place Friday, March 25, 2011, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Jennifer Schwartz Gallery. The temporary shop opens at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Jennifer Schwartz gallery and closes at 7 p.m.

Jennifer Schwartz Gallery is located at 1000 Marietta Street, suite 112 in the Brickworks Complex.
