Haute Event: Jay-Z and LeBron James “Two Kings” Dinner and After Party

News | February 20, 2011

Jay-Z and Lebron James

Its that time of year again. Awards Season, sports season, my life at the current moment could be more fabulous than yours season.  From the Golden Globes and Grammys to the Super Bowl and NBA All-star weekend, with a finale weekend culminating at the Oscars…it’s enough to make anyone go wild with envy.  Therefore, I will unleash by pen…or in this case in Times New Roman, font 12 of my Word document.

My Saturday evening began like no other Los Angeles night. Dark and rainy with a thunderous applause was the soundtrack I was forced to hear on repeat. This is unusual for L.A…we don’t cope well with rain.  Yet, aside from the temporary weather shock, my night preceded as usual when a friend called me up to invite me to Jay-Z and LeBron James’ fifth annual “Two Kings” dinner and after party. The thought of my normally statuesque height of 5 foot 9 inches being comparatively diminutive to many of the attendees over 6 foot and 5 inch frames excited me. Yes, sure why not…I exclaimed!  And so it began.

The fifth Annual “Two Kings” dinner held at Craft Restaurant, followed by the Bing sponsored after party at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in Beverly hills, was indeed the place to be during “All Star Weekend.” Celebrity attendees not only included hosts, Jay-Z and LeBron James, but Beyonce (of course in the most amazing bedazzled shoes ever), Rihanna (dancing to her own tunes),Dwayne Wayde and girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, Ciara, Leonardo DiCaprio with his usual entourage and gal pal, Bar Refaeli, Ryan Phillippe, John Legend and his Sports Illustrated model-girlfriend, Chrissy Teigen, and even Oprah’s “BFF” Gayle King came out to support.

My most entertaining encounter (besides Vin Diesel) was when I bumped into actress/singer, Brandy.  She told me I was very pretty. I told her that I have constantly been mistaken for her since I was 8. She gave me a look that told me she wasn’t impressed. Good thing I didn’t tell her about the time I signed autographs as her at the U.S. Olympics in Atlanta.

There, of course, was no shortage of beautiful woman, flanking the impressive roster of athletes, moguls, agents, musicians and those dreamy creative types. This event, created for celebrities and executives from all types of worlds to come together and share ideas, was exactly what the night provided. Let’s hope that someone was listening to mine.
