Haute Event: Jingle & Mingle Designer Wreath Auction & SantaFest Children

Christmas is well-known to be a day where we can spend the cheerful and long-awaited holiday in the comfort of our own homes and share special moments with our loved ones. But unfortunately, for many homeless children in San Francisco, this is not the case. But thanks to the kind hearts of the non-profit organization Children of Shelters, many of those homeless children will have a gift to look forward to in their future.

To start off Jingle & Mingle, the Designer Wreath Auction with the attendance of 400 people, had 55 designers design many distinctively decorated wreaths. A variety of materials were used to make the wreaths, including live foliage, steel and mirrors to colorful lights. Blending all these materials captivated the holiday season’s festive spirit. All the proceeds from this event went to the needs of homeless children, which would help them reach their full potential in aspects such as education.

But the season of giving didn’t stop there. Two days later, on Dec. 11, Children of Shelters hosted their ninth annual children’s holiday party, SantaFest, also held at the Presidio Officers’ Club. While the adults enjoyed their time at the Designer Wreath Auction, the children definitely enjoyed their time at SantaFest. Fulfilling the wishes of what a kid can only hope for during the holiday season, there was so much for them to do. The activities ranged from taking pictures with jolly, old Santa to decorating colorful and sweet gingerbread houses and making holidays arts and crafts provided by Sophie’s Stress Free Soiree’s. They also got to enjoy goodies provided by ACRE Gourmet. It was truly an event customized for the imaginative and the young.
