This year Financial Times named Steve Jobs person of the year so we’ve decided to focus on the inventor/entrepreneur who has shaped our lives.

What Made Him Haute: When Steve Jobs first started out he was even younger than fellow Haute 100 and Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg. He is most famously known as founder and chief executive of Apple Inc. a company whose innovate products have defined culture and our world as we know it. In 1984, the Macintosh became the first commercially successful small computer. After being a large part of the Pixar production company, Jobs returned to Apple in the late 1990’s and released the new Mac OS. In the early 200o’s Jobs came out with his most successful product, the iPod and accompanied program, iTunes.

What Makes Him Haute Now: The Apple name is still strong today and Jobs has continued to release innovative products like the iPod touch, iPhone and the iPad. He owns 5.426 million shares of Apple and 138 million shares of Disney, which he received in the Disney/Pixar exchange. Forbes magazine has estimated his net worth at $5.1 billion, making him the 43rd wealthiest American. In December of this year, Financial Times named Steve Jobs Person of the Year replacing President Barak Obama.
