Eat So Others Can Eat During Super Hunger Month

News | January 21, 2011

This has a particularly cold and snowy January so far and the thought of going without enough food to eat is certainly a chilling one.  Thank goodness for the Greater Boston Food Bank, New England’s largest hunger-relief organization providing food for 394,000 people annually throughout eastern Massachusetts.

This January is Super Hunger Month and the Greater Boston Food Bank along with Super Hunger Month’s chairs Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger, Jody Adams of Rialto and Liz Melby of Harpoon Brewery are giving you two ways to get involved in the fight to end hunger and they both just happen to be fun and spectacularly delicious!

Your first opportunity to heat up this month is the First Annual Boston Firehouse Chili Cook-Off, hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston on Tuesday, January 25 from 6 to 9pm.  Fourteen Boston Firehouses will compete for the title of “Boston Firehouse Chili Champion” with Four Seasons Executive Chef Brooke Vosika and Lenny Clarke acting as judge and jury. Tickets for the event are $95 and include hors d’oeuvres, chili and complimentary dessert and cocktails. All proceeds benefit The Greater Boston Food Bank. Tickets can be purchased here.

Four Seasons Boston is located at 200 Boylston St., Boston 617.338.4400

And should your belly still require some winter sustenance, the Super Hunger Brunch is sure to fulfill all of your winter food cravings.  Taking place Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30, 2011 at restaurants throughout Boston, brunch goers will enjoy stunning brunch menus priced at $25, $35 or $50 all to benefit The Greater Boston Food Bank.

The list of restaurants is surely impressive. Some of the participating restaurants include Garden at the Cellar in Cambridge, The Fireplace in Brookline, and Post 390 in Boston at $25 each; Petit Robert Bistro in Boston and Needham, Jasper White’s Summer Shack in Boston and Hamersley’s Bistro in Boston at $35 each; and Blue Ginger in Wellesley, Sibling Rivalry in Boston and L’Espalier in Boston at $50 each.  Click here for a complete list of participating restaurants. Contact the restaurants directly to make reservations. Gift certificates for both days are also available for purchase here.
