Designers to Look Out For This New York Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has officially announced their list of new designers to show during Fashion Week in a few weeks! The Fall 2011 collections will show at Lincoln Center, and we are so excited to check out the runway shows of the new lines that have never before shown at MBFW!

Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide says he proud to welcome so many established and emerging designers, saying, “the goal of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is to facilitate an opportunity for designers and brands to successfully showcase their talent at an event that will further support the growth of their businesses.”

The newcomers to Fashion Week include Allegri, Callula Lillibelle, CHRISTIAN COTA, Elene Cassis, Frank Tell, G-Star RAW, GUiSHEM, Irina Shabayeva, Joy Cioci, LUBLU Kira Plastinina, Maisonette 1977, Porter Grey, Sachin + Babi, Son Jung Wan, Tess Giberson and VACCA.

Some of the stand-out stars: Allegri was founded in 1971, and specializes in outerwear and rainwear; their garments are known for extensive fabric research to offer ultimate protection from the elements. Christian Cota is a Parisian designer who says he is inspired by his mother and his late grandmother, saying “their manner of dress and their poise was always an education in elegance. They define the word.” We’ve been seeing Elene Cassis in Neiman Marcus already; the designer is a Long Island native who launched her own signature collection in June of 2009. We all know G-Star RAW is one of the leaders in denim fashion. Looking forward to Pierre Morisset’s, G-Star’s head designer, cutting edge designs.  Irina Shabayeva has made a name for herself creating luxurious garments for celebrity clientele, you may also remember the name from the 6th season of “Project Runway.” For modern luxury as clothing, it’s all about Sachin + Babi; their designs run the gamut from ready-to-wear to pillows, bedding, and accessories. Son Jung Wan is already one of the largest Korean designer labels with 34 million dollars in sales for 2009, we’re excited for their New York Fashion Week debut!

We’ll be bringing you coverage from the front rows and from the ever-popular celeb-hang, the Kim Crawford Wine Lounge. Happy Fashion Week!
