For the first time ever, Vans — a label loved by locals and just about every surfer or skater the world around — has teamed up with a boutique to launch a capsule collection and a pop-up shop. Teaming with one of Laguna Beach’s favorite surf shops, Thalia Surf, Vans has created a special line of products and apparel to celebrate SoCal and surf.
On Dec. 2, the two brands hosted a grand opening party for big name surfers and local wave worshippers in the new boutique located in Downtown Laguna. Surf greats like Joel Tudor, Herbie Fletcher and Tyler Hatzikian as well as top longboarders Chris Del Moro, Alex Knost, Jared Mell, Tyler Warren, Nathan Adams were in attendance to celebrate the collaboration of Vans and Thalia. Together, the teams have created sleek versions of Thalia’s beach-chic boho staples and special one-off items for the store.
The store will show a revolving collection of items from Vans and Thalia, including surf footwear, apparel and accessories, and is adjacent to the existing Thalia store that’s already a favorite among surfers here in Orange County. In addition to the Thalia and Vans collaboration, the store will carry Joel Tudor-branded apparel and limited edition shoes.
The grand opening party featured a photo montage chronicling the Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational surf contests held previously and local spinner DJ Geometric kept the crowd on their feet.
