Lavo is a name that many people can evoke in their minds from visits to Las Vegas. However, Manhattanites no longer need to travel west to get their fix of this nightlife venue. Lavo has made a sizzling appearance in New York City’s midtown neighborhood, more specifically 58th Street between Madison and Park Avenues. The venue is both a classic Italian restaurant and nightclub.
The spacious family-style restaurant can accommodate 200 guests for dinner inside its exposed brick interior. The food is incredibly appetizing with hearty menu items including one pound meatballs, spaghetti with lobster and chicken marsala. One can even order a tri-level platter of oysters, clams and lobsters. The nightclub downstairs has a sunken dance floor where you can dance off the Italian food from the restaurant upstairs beneath twirling disco balls.
The owners of Lavo want to tap into the unknown moneyed Midtown market. Lavo plans to accommodate the Upper East Siders, Europeans and the professional crowd who want to enjoy the Las Vegas scene and downtown atmosphere steps away from their offices or homes.
A few weeks ago, Lavo was in the company of celebrities such as Lance Bass, Stephanie Pratt, Tinsley Mortimer, Ciara, Kelly Bensimon, Kristin Cavallari and Olivia Palermo for their grand opening. Jim Chanos, founder of Kynikos Associates, was also spotted enjoying the Italian fare at the restaurant. The restaurant and nightclub has become a big hit and is becoming one of the top places to “eat and be seen” in New York City.
