Live Virtual Wine Tasting at South Gate

To wine and dine and talk technology is a fine thing, especially when in the company of journalist Angel Jimenez de Luis. We recently attended the exclusive launch of Live Virtual Wine Tasting! at South Gate, hosted by sommelier Olivier Defeu, wine enthusiast Devin Parr and the fashionable James Andrew of whatisjameswearing.com and it was quite the impressionable evening.

Jumeriah Essex House regional vice president Gary Schweikert, Jumeriah Essex House Partnership marketing and social media director Jeff Reilly and lifestyle writer Chris Schmicker greeted us upon our arrival.

Guests swirled fresh glasses Pinot noir and perfectly chilled Pinot grigio in long stemmed glasses and enjoyed spinach and Artichoke pizzette, fried macaroni and cheese, vegetable spring rolls and farmstead cheeses.

After the meet and greet hour we gathered to watch the 20-minute Live Virtual Wine Tasting! with an intimate behind-the-scenes view of production company Progressive Pulse’s Vivian Rodriguez and  Steve V. Rodriguez in action.

The show streamed live to wine enthusiasts around the world, proving once again that South Gate, the first restaurant in New York City to incorporate the iPad, is at the forefront of combining technology and wine.

South Gate is located at 154 Central Park S. New York, 212.484.5120.
