Hudson Hotel Offers Guests Upscale Vending Machine

The phrase “vending machine” and word “luxury” aren’t often used in the same sentence. However, in recent history a slew of businesses from shopping malls to airports have opted to offer goods from these mechanisms. Recently, hotels have been joining in on the action. We’ve seen the installation of the Mondrian South Beach’s vending machine as well as the gold bar machine in the Emirates Palace Hotel. Now joining the fade is the hip Hudson Hotel in Manhattan, New York.

This lavish hotel has installed their own vending machine, named the Semi-Automatic, to offer their guests a slew of luxury products. Items start from $4 for basic toiletries to more impressive goods. Products and services are categorized into Basics, Media, Fashion, Beauty, and GoFish. Some of the more obscure merchandise include a copy of Catcher in the Rye, a Paul Smith toothbrush, Ouija Board, a Dagger Rosary by jewelry designer Pamela Love, a black sequin mini skirt by Haute Hippie, and Blueprint Cleanse.

Guests can also purchase a personal portrait shoot with photographer Ben Watts for $8,000. For those looking for a little adventure, they offer 24 carat gold handcuffs by Kiki De Montparnasse for $350 and a red Ferrari 599 GTB to rent, courtesy Gotham Dream Cars for $10,000. The Semi-Automatic is operated by touch screen and only accepts credit cards. The benefit of this new device is that products and services are available to guests 24-hours a day in the hotel lobby. The hotel will rotate items offered by the Semi-Automatic to insure they offer the most chic and trendy goods. It’s definitely safe to say that this vending machine offers more than just your average candy bar.

Hudson Hotel is located 356 West 58th St., New York. For reservations call 212.554.6000 or visit www.hudsonhotel.com.
