Guinevere: Temperley London’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection Preview

It was all fun and fashion yesterday evening at MILK Studios, LOFT in the Meatpacking District. The occasion? Temperley London’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection preview installation. Guests sipped special cocktails and mingled among celebs like “Gossip Girl’s” Jessica Szohr while admiring the Spring/Summer 2011 Temperley London and Alice by Temperley collections.

The Temperley London collection was appropriately entitled Guinevere, named after Lady Guinevere of the King Arthur legend. Many subtle medieval elements are used within each piece including steel-colored ensembles and even a hoodie that actually resembles chain mail. Likewise, the dresses feature elegant, feminine ruffles that would make even Sir Lancelot swoon. The modern edge comes with the leather leggings, chain suspenders and several styles featuring leopard prints. Safari-chic makes yet another appearance! The pieces effortlessly flow with one another, creating a rather fluid and harmonious collection overall.

Displayed across from the mannequins that wore Temperley London were those dressed in its sister line, the more casual, Alice by Temperley collection, of which this season was inspired by Marie Antoinette with a modern twist. Alice was a more colorful display, adding in sky blue and flamingo pink, which overall felt much more Bohemian than traditional Temperley.

Despite their differences, it is clear that the collections are related as both are exceptionally versatile and include pieces for almost any type of occasion. I’m particularly happy that the event’s gift bag included a gorgeous Alice by Temperley scarf, not only because it’s been chilly in Manhattan these past few nights, but now I have a piece of Temperley to hold me over until spring.
