When your sweet tooth is calling, there is only one way to cure the craving. These San Francisco bakeries have the best of pastries, cupcakes, cakes, and homemade breads. Now all you have to do is figure out how to work off all those carbs.

Miette

This sweet French patisserie is a favorite of San Francisco residents. From their ginger snaps to their macaroons, everyone can find something they love. My personal favorite is their old fashion cupcake.

Miette Patisserie is located at 1 Ferry Bldg, Marketplace Shop #05, San Francisco. For more information, visit their website.

Tartine Bakery

This popular bakery is always packed with weekend brunchers. They have a variety of pastries, breads, and even house made quiche. They also have a great brunch and sandwich menu.

Tartine Bakery is located at 600 Guerrero St., San Francisco. For more information, visit their website.

That Takes The Cake

With names like “Alfred Hitchocolate” and “Prom queen”, how could you not be intrigued by these unique flavors?  This Union Street bakery is one of the best places in the city to grab a cupcake.

That Takes The Cake is located at 2271 Union St., San Francisco. For more information, visit their website.

Schubert’s Bakery

Schubert’s is home to some of the most colorful confections in the city. Opened in 1911, this old fashioned bakery has everything from cookies to pastries and fancy cakes.

Acme Bread Company

This is by far the best local bread company in the Bay Area. Their Ferry Building location is the only place you can purchase their full selection, other than their original Berkeley location. My personal favorite is the herb slab bread.
