Miami Spice Update: Mandarin Oriental

We here at Haute Living can hardly contain our excitement for Miami Spice. Adding to the list of fabulous restaurants participating in Miami Spice restaurant month is the always stunning Mandarin Oriental, who will offer the “Miami Spice Celebration” package providing a summer getaway of luxury and culinary delights. From Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, guests can savor this gourmet package with luxurious accommodations for two nights, American breakfast daily and choose from the three-course Miami Spice dinner menu at the high-energy Azul restaurant or the Miami Spice lunch or dinner menu at the waterfront Café Sambal. Additionally, the hotel’s concierge will provide his favorite picks from participating Miami Spice restaurants.

The lineup of Azul’s Miami Spice three-course dinner menu has us drooling: First Course Options: Salmon Tataki with Grilled Shallot Vinaigrette, Radish Salad; Chilled Tomato Soup with Aged Cheddar and Toasted Brioche; and Crispy Ipswich Clams, Bacon Pain Perdue with Spicy Remoulade and Butter Lettuce. For the main course: Panca Marinated Churrasco with Black Beans, Avocado Salad and Crispy Yucca Salad; Squid Ink Gnocchi with Florida Rock Shrimp, Chorizo, Saffron and Baby Squash; and Grilled Golden Trout with Truffle Mushroom Salad, Truffle Vinaigrette, Artichoke and Fried Egg. For dessert, Strawberry Rhubarb Tart with Crème Fraiche and Mara Des Bois Coulis; Flourless Chocolate Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream and Passion Fruit Caramel Coulis; and Soft Almond Paste Cake, Roasted Peach and Lavender Honey Ice Cream. The three-course lunch and dinner menus at Café Sambal include: First Course Options: Gazpacho and Fritters with Green Tea Smoked Tomatoes and Vegetable, Seafood and Corn Fritters; and Hawaiian Ahi Poke – Cubed Fresh Tuna with Soy Sauce, Green Onions and Chopped Macadamia Nuts.  For the main course: Steamed Mahi Mahi with Black Bean and Ginger Sauce, Jasmine Rice and Vegetables; Chicken Pad Thai; and General Tao Tofu. For dessert, enjoy Milk Chocolate and Banana-Ginger Mousse Bar; and Passion Fruit Crème Brulee Tart with Strawberry-Rhubarb Confit.
