Beach Hair Bingo: McMillan and Canale come to Malibu
The joys of life in Malibu don’t need much advertisement. But even Colony living can have its drawbacks, particularly when it comes to accessing certain necessities. Which is why the McMillian Canale Salon in Malibu Country Mart is such a blessing.
If the names don’t ring instant bells, stylist Chris McMillan and colorist Michael Canale are two of the most influential people in the industry (that’s not just our opinion—ask Allure magazine). The trend-setting “dream team” behind Jennifer Aniston’s legendary “Rachel” ‘do, have combined forces again after each establishing their own celebrity-drawing salons in Beverly Hills.
Visitors to McMillan have included Kate Beckinsale, Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Ashley Tisdale, and Hugh Jackman, while Canale has colored Heidi Klum, Denise Richards, Faith Hill, Shakira and Penelope Cruz. Their work has graced the covers of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, GQ, Rolling Stone, Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle
Considering how influenced both have been by the tousled and sun-bleached beach look, it only makes sense that they would finally have a salon by the sea. But the real benefit is for Malibu residents who will no longer have to drive in to Beverly Hills for top-quality treatment.
To get McMillan and Canale themselves may take some arrangement. With demanding schedules, Michael typically sees clients there about six days a month, and Chris is there a bit less than that—but there’s no doubt their resident stylists and colorists are thoroughly qualified as well. After all, they’ve got some pretty big names to live up to.
