Haute Auction: Isabella Blow’s Wardrobe Is Up For the Highest Bidder

News | May 18, 2010

Isabella Blow, muse to Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy, discoverer of Stella Tennant and Sophie Dahl, Vogue fashion editor, and complete fashion goddess, had one of the most enviable collections of over-the-top McQueen, Philip Treacy, and Manolo Blahnik pieces. This September those pieces—and more—are going up for sale at Christie’s London, in a spectacle that is sure to be one of the most impressive fashion auctions of the century.

Blow, who had a history of suicide attempts, took her life in May of 2007. The fashion industry mourned, and perhaps nobody was more affected than her dear friend Alexander McQueen. She left behind a wardrobe of over 90 Alexander McQueen pieces, 60 Philip Treacy hats, and other designs from fashion’s most influential designers. Expect Daphne Guinness, who is also known for her love of McQueen and other outlandish styles, to raise the bids of many of these lust worthy items.
