Go Red for Women: Food, Fun, Female Philanthropy
Where will you find over 600 of the most impassioned and involved women on May 14, 2010 in Phoenix? Attending the sixth annual Go Red For Women luncheon hosted at the Downtown Sheraton. Go Red For Women is the female-focused, women-driven child of the American Heart Association with the purpose of empowering women to wipe out the number one killer of the fairer sex: heart disease.
Attendance to the charity luncheon will be an educational event as well as a chance to listen to Martha Beck, this year’s keynote speaker. Go Red For Women is so honored to have a woman such as Martha Beck on the roster to speak to the ladies of Phoenix. As an author, life-coach, and buddy to Oprah Winfrey, this woman is worthy of mass attention. She will be there to help drive home the message of taking charge of women’s heart health and bringing light to this very serious cause.
Guests of the luncheon, besides being fed a delicious meal and mingling with an amazing array of Valley women, including News-12 anchor and emcee of the event Lin Sue Cooney, will also receive a Heart Health Tool Kit. In this kit women will find a brochure on heart disease, a bookmark with information on how women can reduce their risk for heart disease and stroke, a wallet card with questions to ask a doctor, a chart to track blood pressure, cholesterol and weight, and an American Heart Association red dress pin to wear to show support for the women and heart disease cause.
While coming out to mingle with 600 amazing women and share a meal with the incredible Martha Beck is an outing we should all be so lucky to receive an invite to, it’s good to remember the worthy cause behind the glitz and our hats are tipped to Go Red For Women and all they do to raise funds, awareness, and attention to this deadly threat to all women. The message is sure to hit home with all in attendance.
