Christian Louboutin Hits the Road in Europe With a Mobile Pop-Up Shop

News | May 21, 2010

What’s cooler than an ice cream truck trolling the streets on balmy summer days? A Christian Louboutin outfitted ice cream truck, of course. The shoe designer, who has been seen and heard around Cannes over the past week, erected a pop-up shop on the Riviera to showcase his Loubi’s Angels—they go by the names Jessyca, Claudine, and Josephine and performed outside the Palm Beach Casino for three nights starting last Sunday.

But back to the ice cream truck. For years Christian Louboutin shoes have been a fixture at the Cannes Film Festival, where they have walked the red carpet at many blockbuster premieres. Unfortunately the red soled shoes can’t be found anywhere in the tony resort city. Thus, the idea for the pop-up shop was born. Says Louboutin, “I thought, why not have something like an ice cream truck stationed in front on the Hôtel du Cap?” “The Black Carriage,” which is actually an old cheese truck painted black, is a mobile store that will travel through France and Spain this summer.
