Your Chance to Meet President Obama in Miami

Miami residents take note: Air Force One will be touching down in the Magic City this coming Thursday, April 15. President Obama is stopping by the shores of South Florida to attend two separate fundraising events, one at the home of Haute 100 members Gloria & Emilio Estefan and another at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. (Ricky Arriola, the center’s chairman, is a member of the President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities, hence the stop. We caught up with Arriola for a Q&A in our December/January edition to discuss the appointment, the Arsht Center, and the impact of Art Basel.)

Entrée to the private cocktail party at the Estefans’ estate runs for $32,500 per couple. If that is a little too steep for you, we recommend checking out the Arsht Center’s fundraiser, where prices range from $250 for a limited number of Gen44 tickets (designated for “a rising generation of leaders for the Demographic Party”)  to $1,250 for VIP seating in the first three rows during President Obama’s appearance. General admission is $500 and you can get tickets here. The fundraiser, which is being put together by The Democratic National Committee & Organizing for America, begins at 4 p.m. and will feature a special performance by celebrated jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding, who also performed for President Obama during a special Stevie Wonder tribute concert at the White House and again when the president received his Nobel Peace Prize in December 2009. She is in town for a performance on Friday evening at the Colony Theatre on Miami Beach.
