The Metropolitan Opera Premieres Armida

The Metropolitan Opera hosted the gala premiere of the Met’s first-ever showing of Armida at the Lincoln Center on April 12. The exciting and entertaining production provided viewers with an incredible visual display as Renee Flemming plays the lead role of Rossini’s sorceress. Tony Award winning director, Mary Zimmerman utilized her renowned theatrical experience to create a sensational spectacle.

The celebrated director describes the production as “a buried treasure, a box of jewels,” and that it “has an epic, enchanted quality and a tremendous visual element.”

Those in attendance were thrilled with the inventive plot and guests included Bette Midler, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Camilla Belle, John Lithgow, and several others.
