The 3rd Annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon took place this April 11 and featured more than 2,400 competitors ranging from celebrities, athletes, corporate teams, and professional paratriathletes. Beautiful Miami Beach swarmed with contestants as they battled for victory as well as charity, in fact the event raised over $175,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Chris “Macca” McCormack, 12-time Ironman champion was the Men’s Division overall winner, while Laurel Wassner took home first place in the Women’s Division. Other competitors included co-anchor and national correspondent for NBC, Natalie Morales, actress, Eliza Dushku, former NBA star, Rick Fox, and several other celebrities such as DeAngelo Williams. Mr. Williams hosted the awards ceremony and led the Kid Run and Tot Trot as well.

Participants took on the arduous task of a 1.5K ocean swim, followed by a 40K bike ride, and finished with a 10K run, and despite the heavy breathing and cramping muscles, they enjoyed a spectacular event and supported an important cause.
