The 25th Annual LACMA Collectors Committee Weekend
On April 17, LACMA held their 25th annual Collectors Committee event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, in which a group of donors gathered to obtain exclusive artworks to be added to LACMA’s collection. Curators from each department provided short presentations and information on particular pieces they wanted to be added and as the 160-person committee arrived for the gala dinner, they took on the arduous task of selecting needed additions from an assortment of choices.
Committee members chose carefully until the allotted funds diminished. This year’s event raised over $2 million; a record-breaking amount for the Collectors Committee and it was put to good use, as LACMA was able to acquire six new works. The works included a seventeenth-century Japanese screen as well as masterful pieces of Tibetan furniture. Guests also enjoyed cocktails and live music.
