On The Mound: Donna Karan to Throw First Pitch at Yankee Stadium

News | April 20, 2010

Donna Karan is one of the quintessential American fashion designers. Her designs have graced the figures of such all-American leading ladies as Jennifer Aniston, Kristin Davis, and Demi Moore. But who knew this self-professed yogi was a baseball fan? And a Yankees fan, to boot?

At the beginning of the month the New York-based designer announced a multi-faceted, long-term sponsorship with the New York Yankees. This home-run deal scored her prime space on the outfield billboard, and placed the company as the title sponsor of the dugout lounge located in the third-base line Champions Suite seating section. Chairman and CEO of Donna Karan, Marc Weber, said, “Donna Karan created DKNY to capture the spirit of New York and the people who live here, including the most successful baseball team in history, the Yankees.”

Now, there is buzz that Ms. Karan will further cement her relationship with the Yankees by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at an upcoming ball game (no date has been set). “I can’t wait to come back and throw out the first pitch. I’ll have to start practicing,” said Karan.

If her throwing skills are anything close to her fashion sense, then we all have something to look forward to come game day.
