Earth Day, Continued: Louis Vuitton Gets Charitable

News | April 16, 2010

Following yesterday’s talk of the Christie’s Green Auction, we thought we had our fill of Earth Day news. However, that was until we heard this: Louis Vuitton will dontate 10 percent of all sales on its U.S. web site on April 22 to Global Green USA.

The proceeds from this inspiring pledge will support the charity’s Green Schools Initiatives for kindergarten through 12th grade in cities like New Orleans and Los Angeles. And, if that weren’t enough, they have rallied together such celebs and industry greats as Zoe Saldana, André Balazs, and André Leon Talley to tweet messages of environmental awareness on Louis Vuitton’s Twitter and web site beginning today. Says Daniel Lalonde, president and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton North America, “Louis Vuitton is actively committed to promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development.”

So if you have been torn over the LV Speedy, April 22 might be a good time to purchase. After all, nothing makes retail therapy better than when a portion of it goes toward charity.

Visit the Louis Vuitton website on April 22 to help make the world a greener place.
