“Alexander McQueen: Genius of a Generation” Goes on Sale May 7

News | April 13, 2010

It was bound to happen eventually, and we say, the sooner the better. On May 7, the first fashion tome dedicated to the life and works of the late Lee Alexander McQueen will hit bookstores.

Entitled “Alexander McQueen: Genius of a Generation,” the book is sure to be the first of many that chronicles, and pays tribute to, the life and untimely death of one of fashion’s greatest designers. Written by Kristin Knox, an international fashion journalist and blogger, the 128-page book traces McQueen’s life from his childhood to his final collection—a collection that, though it went unfinished, was received with great praise by his admirers and avid fans.

The images from this book capture the dramatic and daring concepts of his catwalk shows—many of which received great acclaim for their mastery and outlandish interpretations. Demonstrating McQueen’s unique vision, and his complex creations, the book is meant to reveal the designer in his true form.

This Central Saint Martins educated designer challenged the fashion industry with unique and fantastical collections, so we hope that this book is a fitting homage to Mr. McQueen.
