Come Fly With Me…

News | January 14, 2010

Looking for a quick scoop from downtown Tokyo to Narita airport but don’t have an hour and a half? You’re in luck, starting September 16 Japanese property developer, Mori Building Co, will begin operating 30 minute Hermès helicopter transfers from downtown Tokyo to Narita airport. The new luxury service will replace a 70km journey that takes an hour and a half.

Here’s how it works: Travelers hop on board a flight from the central Tokyo district of Akasaka to the Sakura heliport. After that, a limo will transport to the nearby Nakita airport. The flights will run up to 22 times a day and a single fare will cost $1,121 or 75,000 yen.

And talk about flying in style. The $10 million EC 135 chopper has been dressed by Hermès and fitted with brown, calf-leather upholstery. Predominantly white, it will be painted down the sides with a classic splash of Hermès orange. It is the first Hermès helicopter in Japan and part of a fleet of Eurocopters that will provide the service.

The flights are due to start on September 16 and will operate up to 22 times a day.
