Still Taking Orders at Table 8
Though reports that Govind Armstrong abound earlier in the week, find out why we think Table 8 in the Cooper Square Hotel is still set to cook up a storm in The Big Apple.
As we reported here on December 21, Chef Govind Armstrong pulled out of Table 8 restaurant in the Cooper Square Hotel. But that doesn’t mean an early grave for the New York eatery. Despite reports to the contrary, the Table 8 that we all know and love is still alive and taking orders.
“We are not making any changes until we have signed with a new chef,” said Klaus Ortlieb, the managing partner of the hotel. Therefore, it’s business as usual in the kitchen, with chef de cuisine Willis Loughhead still in charge of the chopping block in the back of the house.
And though Table 8 restaurants in South Beach and in L.A. have seen an early demise, Ortlieb comments that they are under no obligation to release the Table 8 moniker.
