Dubai’s Commitment to Tiger’s Course
While Tiger Woods is dealing with the media storm that has hit him and his family (and his alleged mistresses), those who were in the process of doing business with the professional golfer are all in a situation where they must decide whether or not to continue their relationship with him. Unlike some others, the golfer’s business partners in Dubai are sticking to their commitments.
We’ve all been hearing about how Accenture and Gillette have been making some tough calls when it comes to their sponsor relationship with Woods, but multi-million dollar advertisement deals aren’t the only business Woods was conducting off the course (no, I don’t mean the mistresses either).
Woods was in business with some partners in Dubai with plans to build a golf course that would bear Woods’ name. While the Dubai partners are keeping mum with regards to the golfer’s personal troubles, they are letting everyone know that despite the emirate’s cash problems they will be moving forward with the original plans laid out for the course.
The company which is building “The Tiger Woods Dubai,” a housing development and golf course combined, released a statement on Wednesday which said it “remains committed to finishing the first course designed by Woods. Progress continues,” although no further specifics were given.
Back in the U.S. in June, Woods told The Associated Press that the project which has been long-delayed was “out of my hands.” Despite this, and the fact that many sponsors have decided Woods is not the best representation for their brand, Dubai continues to power regardless of both their financial problems and the personal problems of Woods.
