Oysters Rockefeller in Santa Monica

News | November 20, 2009

Blue Plate, a staple on Montana Ave for healthy breakfast and lunch options that tends to cater to the post-yoga crowd, recently opened a delightfully small Oysterette on Ocean Ave in Santa Monica.  It’s beachy in a way that no other restaurant on Ocean Ave has been able to accomplish, especially considering that those establishments are Boa Steakhouse, Ivy at the Shore, and I Cugini.

BP Oysterette has this dynamic industrial feel with calming beachside overtones that are inviting, but not in a shirtless-and-flip-flopped-surfer kind of way.  It’s inviting in a way that makes you want to try all the oysters, suck down another order of Lobster Mac’N’Cheese, and top it off with a fresh lemonade (or something off their wine list, perhaps).  Did we mention how addictive their French fries are? Just a head’s up.

Since we’d already driven all the way to Santa Monica, we figured we should take advantage – a stroll down Abbot Kinney to Equator Books and a bittersweet hot chocolate from Venice’s new Intelligentsia coffee bar did the trick.
