California is known for its great surfing. Tanned, toned-bodied surfers are everywhere along the coasts, all in search of the next epic wave. Huge names in the world of pro surfing have come from California, and all seem to rave about how many great spots there are to surf throughout the state. Because California is so synonymous with the sport, the “totally tubular” themes are everywhere, ranging from small surf-inspired cafés to giant Quicksilver stores. Well, it looks like Laguna Beach hotel La Casa del Camino is jumping on the beachy bandwagon too. Its recent renovation and installment of the Surf Project, 10 rooms redesigned by 10 different designers who worked closely with major surf (and even a few skate) companies has left the hotel with a more “bitchin” vibe. Although redesigned to fit the perfect surfer mold, the rooms still keep in line with the luxury boutique hotel’s classic ambiance.
Take for instance the Quicksilver room. The space is done with sexy, dark leather accents and is complemented by an even sexier, classy, low-lying bed. The L-Space room is the absolute epitome of feminine surfer chic with what looks to be bikini rings used as accents on the lamp shades. The classic crisp white sheets complete the chic vibe. But Billabong’s women’s suite takes the cake for the most creative, complete with grassy tiled-like floors and beach chairs that you can actually use outdoors. And the best part about the renovations? A portion of the room’s proceeds are going to charities such as Invisible Children and Global Green. And who said surf enthusiasts only cared about waves?
