Donald Trump threw his hat in the ring for keynote speaker at this summer’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. The businessman and television host announced his desire to make a primetime speech at the event over Twitter, writing “Hmmm…can you imagine me speaking at the RNC Convention in Tampa? That’s a speech everyone would watch.”
Speaking spots won’t be decided until later this summer, but Trump has been injecting himself into the race for weeks. He recently engaged in a battle royale with Cher, calling the pop superstar a “lonely loser” after she slammed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in a tweet. And just last night, he told CNN talkshow host Piers Morgan he took no issue with reviving the Reverend Jeremiah Wright controversy in political ads attacking President Barack Obama. Trump would have some free time to draft a speech should he be selected: he crowned ex-talk show host Arsenio Hall the newest Celebrity Apprentice on the show’s season finale on Sunday.
