The newspaper has often been described as a trophy of sorts for billionaires, with Mayor Michael Bloomberg commonly mentioned as a potential buyer. Though details regarding Trump’s acquisition strategy remain unknown, it seems unlikely that the Sulzberger family, who controls the company’s voting shares, would welcome his offer.
